Last night, Colorado sent a strong message to Washington insiders: they are fed up with status-quo corporate-run elections. As the only candidate (Democrat or Republican) to refuse to accept special interest PAC money, our success is a clear signal that Colorado’s Main Street has had it with Wall Street and the politicians who do their bidding.

Just this morning, our primary opponent began his Wall Street financed television campaign using my words to convince voters that he wants to reform Washington. No amount of mimicking can conceal the fact that he has taken more Wall Street cash than any other freshman senator, and has the fifth largest Wall Street bankroll in the entire senate. He intends to use it to drown our message, but if you help now we will win the August primary.

We worked together to win Democratic control of the Colorado State House in 2004. We worked together to pass Referendum C to help reduce the crippling effects of the TABOR Amendment. With your help, I stood up to the insurance industry and fought for funding to fix our crumbling schools.

We have to outwork our opponent. Nearly 60% of his contributions come from out-of-state special interests and individuals. More than 95% of our contributions come from Colorado voters.
