The American Cancer Society breaks new ground with “More Birthdays” iPhone app

The American Cancer Society just released a new mobile application for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Further establishing its position as the official sponsor of birthdays, the society created the app to remind users of their friends’ upcoming birthdays, allow them to send customizable virtual birthday cakes and more. Katie at The Official Birthday Blog took the app for a spin:

I’ve spent the last hour playing with it and now I can’t put it down! The free – yes, free! – app links up to my contact lists and Facebook so I can track my friends’ birthdays and receive alerts so I never forget to send them something on their special day.

But the app is not only practical — it’s also a ton of fun! My favorite feature is the birthday cake animation. I get to choose from different cakes, customize my own greeting and send it to my friends on their birthdays. I can even blow out the candles!

You can even make a donation to the American Cancer Society to help create a world with less cancer and more birthdays, right from your phone!

Click here to download the free application from the Apple App Store or watch the demo video below.

Full Disclosure: My firm does work for the American Cancer Society and this important More Birthdays campaign. I strongly support this campaign personally and am proud to be involved because I believe that cancer has taken too many innocent lives, and touched too many loved ones of mine.
