Webcast from the White House: State Department engages on Darfur

In an exciting moment for public engagement last week, the State Department webcast live on their Facebook page a meeting between Special Envoy to Sudan, General Scott Gration, the Senior Director for Multilateral Affairs at the National Security Council, Samantha Power, and representatives from Save Darfur and STAND, the student-led division of the Genocide Intervention Network. This was part of a new series from the White House called Ask U.S., a project to engage the advocacy community and answer questions on U.S. Sudan policy.

The video was streamed live on the State Department Facebook page, the websites of STAND and Save Darfur. In addition, the public was asked to vote on the top five questions which should be asked of Gen. Gration. These questions were then asked on the live broadcast.
