Stop the sale of Zimbabwe’s blood diamonds on the world market
Robert Mugabe’s army has seized control of Zimbabwe’s diamond fields, with more than 200 civilians murdered in the process. An international investigation discovered horrible violence in the diamond fields against civilians and Mugabe is using the profits from the diamonds to fund his political militia.
Right now the group of countries that regulate the international diamond trade are meeting in Namibia.
In response Avaaz.org is circulating a petition to have the global diamond regulator, the Kimberley Process, suspend the selling of Mugabe’s Zimbabwean diamonds on the world market.
This movement necessitates a rapid response as the countries involved are meeting in Namibia to make a decision. You can follow the link below to sign the petition and share it with friends and family to ensure that diamonds are not financing brutality and a brutal regime is not selling tainted diamonds on the world market.
