Impeachment and Clinton in the history books …

Uncategorized

Lots of stories about the Clinton impeachment being included in history textbooks. Clinton says the affair ought to be viewed as his principled fight against congressional abuses of power.

Well, I think he deserved it.

He was impeached but not convicted. The system worked. Clinton was no victim. He set himself up for it. It’s frustrating to me that the Left went into collective denial about the whole thing. That’s the same thing the Right is doing with Bush. Our guy can do no wrong ….

I’m a Democrat and I think what Clinton did was wrong. Lefties are generally are aghast when I say such a thing. But to me, Clinton was a big disappointment. They counter with all of his accomplishments, and I have to agree that in the end, yes, he was a good president. But does Bill Clinton make me feel proud to be a Democrat? No.

I think we’d all be better off if Republicans admitted the same thing about GWB.

One of the arguments being put forth against impeaching W is that nobody wants the country through that kind of trauma again. Bill Clinton put himself in a position to let congress run the country through that wringer for comparitively frivolous reasons and now that there’s a president who really deserves it – nobody’s got the stomach to go through it all again.

Clinton sending his cabinet out to defend him after lying to them was inexcusable. I had no problem with his impeachment. He handed it to them, what the hell did he think they would do?

Actually Joe most people on the left disagree because they know it was an expensive waste of time. I remember Orren Hatch telling Ken Starr, before he released the report, that if all he had in it was Monica he was going to throw it out. He countered with his usual, there is more on the way. There never was. everything else was innuendo. How many times have we heard the Freepers Dittoheads and Bush huggers Keep saying that they will continue to legally persue clinton after he leaves office. Where are they now? I think the only reason the republicans won’t ever fess up is that it would mean admitting that their campaign against clinton was PURE B.S. So although it may seem clever to you to show them that your man enough to admit clinton deserved it, they can never do the same. These people are cowards. that is why they dodged the draft, entered champaign units etc while sending other people’s children off to fight a war for them. You see joe these people are Life Long Cowards and for them to admit Bush needs to be impeached is an admission to not just their own cowardice but to LIFE of the lies they had to create to support their alternate reality.

That post is from Dan Walter, not Joe….

But your point is well taken….

  5. mike 31 December 2005 at 2:42 pm Permalink

Admit the truth and learn from it. I don’t expect the right to hold Bush accountable. Isn’t that why we’re not on the right?

Well, it’s just that WE can tell when our Republican friends are in denial and get defensive about their party’s shortcomings. It’s very frustrating when you see this otherwise sensible and intelligent person you know, perhaps a friend of yours or a relative, with this glaring blindspot.

And I can see it in Dems too… Nobody can tell me that the Marc Rich pardon wasn’t just out-and-out corruption. If a republican had done that the Left would have been howling. If a Dem had done half th e things Bush is doing, the Republicans would be going berserk …

But then there is the incidents like the Republicans screaming that the clinton team trashed the white house as they left. After the GAO investigated it found that there claims were exagerated. then they put them into perspective and showed that the worst condition the white house was left in after a president left was when BUSH SR trashed it as his team cleared out for Clinton. In fact much of the things that the republicans attributed to clinton were actually done by Bush. sickening but true!

Speaking of sick, there is also the story perpetuated about Max Cleland blowing himself up to get a purple heart. WHERE DID THEY GET THAT STORY? well it turns out that BOB DOLE admitted in his own biography that he was the one the threw the grenade that got him a purple heart.

The Clinton Hair cut story that made every news outlet. You know the one, it goes like this, clinton wanted some hot shot beverly hills hairstylist to do his hair while he was at LAX. Causing planes to get diverted and creating traffic at the airport. Ultimately the FAA had to release a report saying that it never happened. Amazing how that never made national news.

Its amazing how everytime you follow the wacky clinton conspiracies and scandals you find they aren’t true. As you watch things like Bob Dole starting the Purple Heart Band Aid campaign that mocked veterans while actual veterans like Cleland and kerry are not believed, you understand why the comparisons you make are just not Valid.

As you watch how these same republicans have become the ‘blame clinton first crowd’ and see how they lied about him being responisble for everything that has gone wrong under Bush you will understand why there is no comparison. From the Bogus story about him Being handed Bin Ladens head on a platter which was later attributed to a misquote and abogus stroy in NewsMax. It took the 9/11 comission to debunk that one. but their report obviously wansn’t echoed over and over again like the origional bogus story.

Just look at where the Illegal US Spying case has gone. It is now being uncovered that the Telecom industry was cooperating in the spying by giving the white house Special back door access. Imagine that Privatized spying on the US. All while the the media again try to Blame Clinton instead. Even after the Aldich stories have been debunked!!

From Clintons super secretdeath squads to the accusation that he raped hillary to conceive chelsea. to Hillary is really a lesbian having an affair with vince foster. Do you not see HOW ridiculous it has become? and you want us all to Play into that?! Somehow you believe the best way rationalize with the delusional is to start believing their delusions?!

The Crackpots seriously believed that Clinton deserved impeachment NOT for what he was actually being impeached for but for all the delusional things they couldn’t prove and still can’t today, even though they swore to continue persuing him legally.

Maybe If you believe the best way to to calm someone who is suffering form paranoid anxiety is to believe in their paranoid rant than I can understand where your coming from but I would still argue that doing so would only elevate the paranoia and fail to calm them.

I still say. Clinton is no longer the president and we now have to deal with the REAL issues OF TODAY. I see more and more people falling away form the ‘blame clinton first crowd’ simply because by comparing the two admins they can see first hand why this admin has actually done things that ARE deserving of impeachment. that this president’s actions actually do effect the lives of US citizens.

You say clinton deserved impeachment over a sex scandal simply becasue he used his cabinat members to defend him. I say I never want to see another president get impeached over a sex scandal. I think it was ridiculous especially having lived in Riverside at the time where Our Republican representive got busted by police with his pants down in a car with a prostitute, he tried to run from the police and later tried to use his power to prevent the newspapers from reporting on it. He voted for the Impeachement even though he himself was guilty of the same crimes and maintained his office. Then there is republican Mayor Philip giordano who was busted for pedophilia and is now serving time. The republicans actually rallied around him and said he shouldn’t have to step down.

you can try to rationalize with the delusional folks by following them into their fantasy world all you want! I believe history already had his day and is no longer president. We have a new president in office that is committing questionable acts that NEED investigation. Bush needs his day in court and that HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CLINTON!!! Clinton’s gone, and is only a releveant topic for the delusional ‘blame clinton first crowd’. So please say it with me. ” Clinton is no longer president, Bush is. We need to deal with the matters AT HAND”

It is frustrating knowing that if Clinton had done the exact same thing in Iraq for example that Bush has done that the right wing would have a cow. Exit stratagy, mission creep, would be the words you would be hearing as they we’re heard duing Bosnia. Now exit stratagy is painted as foolish.
The republicans are about winning and they’re good at it.It’s more of a spectator sport to them and winnig justifies just about anything.
Why wouldn’t they let that nice Harriet Miers have an up or down vote? You could go on all day.

mikey, Clinton did the same thing. Invasion based on bad intelligence and a commitment to leave within a year. Well, where are the death camps he promised? Nowhere. And, after 11 years, we’re still there. I remember that only a small few congressional Clinton-hater types voiced opposition to the operation at the time. The vast majority of republicans supported the operation. They have not “whined” about the bad intelligence that guaranteed, a “slam dunk” of its time, we were liberating victims from death camps nor have they “whined” about our continued involvement in his “Vietnam.” Don’t tell me that people didn’t die in Bosnia. There are over 200,000 recorded deaths.

You probably don’t remember, it was before your time.

Now, how fast can we get Bush impeached so we can get Dick in there? I’m tired of this compassionate conservative and reaching across the aisle crapola. I say Dick in ‘06!!

If Clinton had invaded Iraq I would have called him incompetent as well. Thanks for the information about there being deaths in Bosnia.

If Clinton had invaded Iraq I would have called him incompetent as well.

I love liberal retro-honesty. It’s so very, well, flip-flopping liberal.

Clinton did the right thing. Thousands were indeed dead and others in jeopardy from genocidal hate. We don’t have a franchise on liberty and security. The irony is that liberals perceive themselves to be the protectors of civil liberties but when it comes to taking a stand, it ends at our shores.

Maybe He meant civil liberties as in illegal wiretapping of US citizens?

Or maybe he meant Liberating Iraqis from their lives.

Could he have meant Covert Government propaganda like the kind the GAO found the Bush admin to be guilty of?

Possibly he meant liberating Iraqis from thier OIL, they didn’t need that stuff anyway.

    Speaking of Bill Clinton:

It is opined that Bill Clinton committed racist hate crimes, and I am not free to say anything further about it.
