I’m Signing On
I really thought that the 2004 Presidential campaign would be the last I would be involved in. I have always wanted to make a difference, but for me I thought those days were over.
A few weeks ago, John and Elizabeth Edwards made their decision to continue, not just John Edwards’ campaign for President, but their work together to make a difference for their country.
And that made me realize that I wasn’t done trying to make a difference either. Not by a long shot. So today I am joining the John Edwards campaign.
Too much is at stake. The war in Iraq continues, and more of our troops will lose their lives. Working Americans are losing ground. Poverty continues in the wealthiest nation on the planet. And nearly nothing is really being done to reduce global warming.
John Edwards is leading the way and making a difference on all of these issues. He’s offering big ideas backed by real plans to change our country. And so his campaign is the place where I will work to make whatever difference I can.
Lets make a difference together, for each other, and for our country. Too much is at stake to give anything less than everything we’ve got.

Good choice. I really do believe Edwards is the real deal. The roots of populism going back to William Jennings Bryan. They fell into disrepute, but I think the world has come round to populism again. And I think Edwards embodies that spirit of southern populism that has a genuine interest in the well-being of average people, just trying to get along.
Go Edwards! Should be interesting and I would bet that with Obama and Clinton going after each other Edwards will “slip” in right between them.

btw, I heard the ladies on ABC’s the View talking about gun control and presidential candidates. At the end of the discussion, Joy blurted out, I like Edwards/Obama… That is a great ticket… nods all around (except for conservative blonde)

Well, I was wondering how long it was going to take you to get on board with Edwards after Daren Berringer left your firm and became the campaign’s national field director…you two will make a great campaign even better. You guys are quite a team.
As an entrenched Obama supporter since his run for the Senate here, I am glad you are supporting someone. However, since I am not a fan of Edwards and question his ideological 180 degree turn around in less than a year and the sincerity of it, I doubt I will be visiting here much until after the primaries.
I like you and am happy for you. I especially love the fact that you helped introduce us to and brought to the national stage Dr. Dean. I concider Dean the guy who salvaged the democratic party and turned it around for us.

Nice. Now this is going to be a real race! I’m still an Obama guy, but between his book and yours, I liked yours better. A friend of mine introduced me to your work and now, well, I’ll have to look at Edwards a little closer.
Gun control Joe. That what I want to hear about. As for Iraq, I have no idea. I would also like to see What Edwards thinks about what the fed. government should do and what should be left up to the states.
On Education – Is there some type of federal retirement plan for teachers? My mother has taught in the publich school system for almost 20 years and will retire broke. Just not fair.
For me, if the salary was at least a living wage, I would teach. As of now, there are too may quality teachers suffering because they have little help. I want plans of action and not speaches.
Nice to hear you chose a side. Let’s see how this all turns out. Come on up to Harlem man, we need some focus up there.

Congrats on working with another millionaire who wants to help the “poor.” I suppose that will be people in 4500 sq ft or less homes. Don’t bring the same game this time.. we bloggers have a voice.
Joe–I just watched you on Hardball (4/20/07 show) and heard about your announcement. Interestingly, I just joined the Edwards campaign last night. Congrats to us both! And I joined for the same reasons you do–poverty, Iraq, global warning, etc.
To the previous bloggers–I don’t care who voted for what before the war–just who will get us out in the way most supportive and respectful of the troops. And FDR was a millionaire who had a much bigger estate that Edwards’ house. FDR was such a friend of the poor that he was called a “traitor to his own class.” Affluence does not preclude empathy.
I’m not surprised by your announcement, Joe. One fraud working for another fraud. Edwards didn’t do a damn thing about poverty in his six years in the Senate (four years with Democratic control), and his so-called poverty center accomplished nothing but providing him a vehicle to promote himself. He’s nothing but a lot of PR with no substance or ability to deliver on his promises — in other words, much like what you did for/to Dean in 2004.
