Update on NY
Today, I hosted a blog call for Andrew Rasiej, a candidate for Public Advocate of New York City. The Public Advocate is the second in line to the mayor, so it’s a really big position. And I believe that Andrew Rasiej is the perfect man for the job.
For those that were on the conference call, you already know – Andrew is one of the most progressive, forward-thinking candidates ever to run for a public office. He has already proven his ability to use technology for positive change with the MOUSE program, which teaches children how to build and manage internet networks within their schools. And he has great ideas for NYC, such city-wide public WiFi, community-building internet strategies, and even a pothole-fixing program where you can send cameraphone pics of potholes to the city in order to add them to the repair list. Andrew worked with me on the Dean campaign and I can honestly say that this is a brilliant man who can have a positive, real effect on New York City.
Even if you don’t live in New York, there is a way that you can help. If you know any registered Democrats that do live in New York, send them an email or call them up and encourage them to vote for Andrew in the Democratic primary on September 13 . There are only Democratic candidates in the race, so whoever wins the Democratic primary wins the seat.
Visit Andrew’s website and find out what you can do to help. Also, check out his video blog (one of the first of its kind in a political race) and learn how you can spread the word.
I would also like to continue to express my strong support for Brian Ellner in the race for Manhattan Borough President. The MBP is the chief elected official of Manhattan and is directly responsible for the 1.5 million residents that live on that island. Like Andrew, Brian has a great vision for the city of New York and would make a great leader for the people of Manhattan. Brian is especially strong on issues of education, the environment, and labor, and if elected would be the first openly gay official to take office in Manhattan.
Find out more about Brian Ellner.
The primary election for MBP is also on September 13th – again, tell your friends that live in New York and are registered Democrats to go to the polls and support Brian and Andrew. They can bring changes to New York City that will have resounding effects in communities across America as their progressive ideas are implemented by other city governments wishing to replicate their success. But they need our help – spread the word and get out the vote.

It is outstanding news that you are working with Cindy Sheehan. This is major good karma for you. Have you heard this song about Cindy? I put the link into the website but I’ll add it here again-

It loads automatically. It’s briliant, give it a listen.
Drudge has her splattered across the front page. I nearly fell out of my seat to read what she said. That is powerful and truthful stuff. hah! let’s roll as they say.
